Hotel Vin Opened Three Rooms for Rogers Locals, Each on Its Own Clock

Hotel Vin Rogers, Autograph Collection, was open on West Madison Avenue by mid-September. Anyone in Rogers can use its restaurant, rooftop lounge and speakeasy without booking a room. What takes some planning is when. The three venues keep different hours and close on different days. You can have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. and a measured pour of rare wine at 10:45 p.m. in the same building, but on a Sunday or Monday you'll find one of the three closed.

Talk Business & Politics reported the hotel at 5501 W. Madison Ave. as a six-floor, 125-room property that cost more than $72 million. Great Lakes Capital of South Bend, Indiana, developed it, and Dallas-based Coury Hospitality operates it. In the same report, Coury CEO Paul Coury said the hotel aims at "creating a place that feels equally at home for visitors and locals." The rest of this post covers how that works for someone who lives a few miles away.

Who gets in without a room

A Good Day NWA segment on KNWA from Sept. 30 says visitors "don't have to book a room" to use Bacchus Kitchen + Bar, Ridge Rooftop Lounge or Magnum. The hotel sponsored that segment. The hotel's dining page links to reservations for all three.

The property has a fourth outdoor space, WineYard, next to the pool and cabanas. The KNWA segment lists the resort-style pool and private cabanas among the hotel guest amenities. For a local, the venues to plan around are the three with reservation links, and the hours matter more than the decor.

A weekday, hour by hour

Using the posted schedules, here is a Tuesday through Saturday at Hotel Vin:

  1. 6:30 a.m. Bacchus starts breakfast service, which runs until 11.
  2. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bacchus serves lunch.
  3. 3 to 5 p.m. The Bacchus bar stays open between lunch and dinner.
  4. 4 p.m. Ridge Rooftop Lounge opens.
  5. 5 p.m. Magnum Speakeasy opens and Bacchus begins dinner, which runs until 10.
  6. 10 to 11 p.m. The Bacchus bar takes over for the last hour. Ridge and Magnum also close at 11.

Some part of the building serves food or drinks for about 16 and a half hours. On a weekday, the posted schedules leave no stretch between 6:30 a.m. and 11 p.m. when all three are closed at once.

Hospitality trade coverage on Hotel Management says Bacchus offers brunch and happy hour. The posted Bacchus schedule doesn't list times for either. Call ahead before planning a Sunday brunch around it.

Where the clocks differ

Sunday and Monday are where a plan can fall apart.

Venue Days Hours as posted
Bacchus Kitchen + Bar Daily 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., by meal period
Ridge Rooftop Lounge Daily, per its site Its site shows 4 to 11 p.m.; OpenTable lists Sunday as 4 to 9 p.m.
Magnum Speakeasy Tuesday through Saturday 5 to 11 p.m.

Magnum is closed Sunday and Monday. The Ridge website says the rooftop is open daily from 4 to 11 p.m. Its OpenTable listing shows a 9 p.m. close on Sundays. If your guests fly out Monday morning and you're planning a late Sunday drink upstairs, call ahead. On a Monday night, Bacchus and Ridge are open and the speakeasy is closed.

Bacchus, from the breakfast menu up

The hotel calls Bacchus a modern American restaurant built around wine regions, with an indoor dining room and an open-air patio. The wine shows up on the plates too. Breakfast includes Vin French Toast with red-wine-poached pears and berries, plus a chicken-and-waffle with honey-thyme butter, maple syrup and blackberry. The Bacchus site features the Hotel Vin VLT, made with red-wine-cured Sakura pork belly, lettuce, tomato and grape-leaf aioli. It describes the ingredients as locally sourced.

According to Talk Business & Politics, the kitchen and bar team is led by Director of Food and Beverage Randy Bloomquist, Executive Chef Garrett Kasper and Beverage Director Susie Long, along with two sommeliers. Pinnacle Hills already has plenty of places for lunch. A 6:30 a.m. breakfast with red-wine-poached pears in a dining room run by a sommelier-staffed team is harder to find, and it works well for meeting someone before work.

Ridge, for the hours after 4

The hotel calls Ridge "the newest rooftop bar in Northwest Arkansas." It serves cocktails, wine and small plates, with views over Pinnacle Hills. The cocktail list includes the Ozark Sunset, made with strawberry-infused Aperol, Prosecco, soda and orange. The hotel's description mentions catching the sunset, and with a 4 p.m. opening, late-fall sunsets fall during Ridge's hours.

Ridge's next dated event is a Halloween party. "Till Death Do Us Party" runs Friday, Oct. 30, from 7 to 11 p.m. It's 21 and over, costumes are encouraged and reservations are recommended. That's the night before Halloween, so families with trick-or-treat plans on Oct. 31 can go Friday and stay home Saturday.

Magnum, for a smaller pour

On the hotel's dining page, Magnum is the intimate room, with low lighting, plush seating and cocktails built on premium spirits. What sets it apart for wine drinkers is the dispensing system. It keeps 16 wines, including what the opening release called "rare and limited-production selections not often offered by the glass," and pours them in 1-, 3- or 5-ounce servings.

A standard glass is about 5 ounces, so a 1-ounce taste lets you try a bottle you'd never order a full glass of, or compare three wines for about the volume of one pour. The food menu stays small. It includes "Salt and (Vin)egar Chips" with red-wine vinegar and a sour-cream-and-chive dip, plus a Cured & Cultured board. Reservations are available through the hotel's dining page.

The next date on the calendar

The ballroom is the other way locals can use the building. The Tour de Vino wine dinner is set for Thursday, Nov. 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Tuscany Ballroom. It's $125 for a multi-course dinner paired with Hope Family Wines. It's a seated event, so hosting out-of-town family that weekend means booking early.

Out the front door

In the KNWA segment, a member of the hotel team pointed to the location near the Razorback Greenway, Walmart AMP and the rest of Pinnacle Hills and Uptown Rogers. For locals, that means pairing the venues with places nearby. A Greenway walk works before a Bacchus breakfast. An AMP show works with a Magnum nightcap on a Tuesday through Saturday, since the speakeasy is the one with gaps in its week. Ridge fills the late afternoon, opening at 4 p.m. on every day of its posted schedule.

Hosting family or friends during a visit to Northwest Arkansas often comes down to knowing which room is open at which hour. That kind of local detail is also what we bring to selling a home. If you live near Pinnacle Hills and want to know what your house is worth this fall, Roe Team can put together a free home valuation and walk you through it.
